Abdul is an amazing Recording, Broadcast and Webcast Engineer! Intuitive, strategic, open-minded, reliable, creative, intelligent, experienced, professional, precise, focused, leader, team player, entrepreneur are just a few adjectives that describe him. His studio and control room mixing, producing, and operational skills are extremely sharp. He is at the top of his game! He listens, he interprets and he executes with grace and ease. My name is Hanna Rosin, and I am an editor at Slate. I have known Abdul for over two years, as an engineer and producer on two of our Slate podcasts - the women's podcast, and the audio book club. Abdul is everything you want in an engineer. He prompt, efficient, delightful and a great presence in the room. And did I mention that he never misses a deadline? Never. He arrives early, and gets everything in production shape on time, every time. I have done podcasts without Abdul in the room and I am always in an anxious state, because when Abdul is around I know he can work his magic and make the whole process run smoothly and the whole experience more fun.

Abdullah Rufus is a standout engineer and producer. He was thorough and conscientious in handling the production and edit of Slate’s “Hang Up and Listen” podcast each week, and his flexibility and ability to meet tight deadlines were always much appreciated. No matter whether we were dealing with call-in guests or a studio show, the podcast always came out sounding fantastic.

  1. dj grandpa has been a kind and effective champion of our team's first Kickstarter campaign, Last Dream. As an independent video game studio, we entered our campaign with relatively little promotional experience. dj grandpa not only masterfully edited our podcast interview, he also offered key advice that substantially boosted our campaign. We feel enormously grateful for his support and admire his skilled professionalism.

  3. DJ Grandpa is a rite of passage for Kickstarter campaigns. His elevator pitch podcast is a great exercise in focus and tremendous fun! Long after our campaign met its goal, he has kept in touch and lent his support. We're lucky that he's part of our community. Thank you DJ Grandpa and Yvonne!

  4. dj grandpa has been extremely helpful and supportive when I started my very ambitious but successful Kickstarter campaign to record my music with the London Symphony Orchestra at Abbey Road Studio in London. His interview style and his friendly and empathic way made it really easy for me to bring across my message. When talking to him I felt right at home from the start and his interest in my project gave the confidence to keep going. Thank you DjG!

  6. DJ Grandpa is sharing the important stories from the world of crowdfunding. He's humane, curious, and thoughtful. His podcast has been a great source for crowdfunding news and info - and I'm excited to help Kickstart a 2nd season. Each episode helps chronicle this exciting time in history.

  7. Hard as it is for me to believe, I made my Kickstarter goal, which will fund the publication of my young adult science fiction novel I Am The Salamander. I owe DJ Grandpa a heap of gratitude, not just for the chance to appear on his compelling and eminently listenable podcast but also for his ongoing advice and personal push--an indication of the fervor with which he supports a project he believes in. It's no cliche when I say I couldn't have succeeded in my Kickstarter campaign without him.

  8. Living in a fast-paced and multi-tasking online environment, it is very hard to be heard, let alone noticed in this very noisy world of ours. Then at certain intervals in time there are those who rise above the din and noise makers, who shine the light and provide the necessary channels to those who are finding their voice in terms of "artistic expression." One such person is DJ Grandpa, a singular individual, providing the platform for these individuals to be heard and noticed, whatever their project happens to be - a film, a video, a game, a musical composition, etc.Myself, like those who preceded me and those yet to follow, are deeply grateful to DJ Grandpa, a person, who, through his compassion, vision, and insight is providing the means through his weekly podcasts, providing opportunities for the next generation of entertainment professionals to stand up and share their voice To "Pay It Forward" and support those in their endeavor of creative self-expression. I am profoundly indebted to him for doing this.

  9. As I've said before, DJ Grandpa is the voice of truth a bunch of money-grubbing crowd funding "experts" that sit on the side lines and prey on desperate campaigns. DJ goes the opposite way: all play, no pay. It's time that we all paid it forward for DJ! - O dogg

  11. DJ, thank you, thank you for your kindness and enthusiasm. Any kickstarter campaign that is not on DJ's podcast is missing out on a lot of publicity. DJ not only gives you free publicity but gives you tips on how to reach more people. He is genuinely interested in your success.
